Jeep is getting up there, but parent Stellantis is gearing up for the brand’s 85th birthday with a slew of limited new editions of the iconic Wrangler.

Eighty-five years takes the Jeep all the way back to the original four-wheel drive designed for the U.S. Army’s entry into World War II, the first civilian versions of which were created at the end of the conflict.

Chrysler acquired the brand in the 1980s, and the 2021 merger of Fiat-Chrysler and France-based PSA Group created Stellantis.

In an “Operation Airdrop” marketing campaign hearkening to the Jeep’s wartime roots, the automaker plans to introduce a different Wrangler “buzz” edition each month, starting this month with the Moab 392 at a starting asking price of $79,995, excluding a $1,995 destination charge. Like the rest of the Jeep lineup, it will come with a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine of Chrysler fame.

The video series will include clues to upcoming limited editions. Stellantis plans to introduce the next buzz on Dec. 12, just in time for late holiday shoppers.
